Anthony Whittle was born on November 10, 1952. He was the second child born to the union of Charles and Willie Mae Whittle. Anthony known as "Red" to family and friends was called home to be with the Lord early Monday morning October 10, 2016. Red was preceded in death by his loving mother and father and his beloved sister Elaine Whittle.
Anthony was born in the West End of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1952, when a community was like a village. At that time the majority of both sides of our family lived in the neighborhood and it truly was a village with siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents all living within walking distance of one another. It was a wonderful time to be growing up in Cincinnati.
The family relocated to Kennedy Heights in the early 1960's, a prominent neighborhood of Cincinnati, OH. Anthony attended Kennedy Elementary School, Schroder Junior High School and Woodward High School, the class of '72. Anthony was a gifted athlete growing up. He excelled at playing baseball in the Little Leagues and was a ferocious defensive football player. He was a very strong individual and usually had his way on the playing fields. Everyone picked Anthony to play on their team. He was good at whatever he put his mind to. Anthony was always determined and was very good with his determination. He kept it 100!!
Upon graduation from High School, Anthony worked for a good number of years for the Cincinnati Milacron Foundry and Ewers Blacktopping Inc. before retiring.
In 1978, Anthony met the love of his life, Ms. Lisha Lungelow. From this relationship was born a beautiful love-child, Ms. Calise Lungelow on April 3, 1998. Calise was the beat of Anthony's' heart. He devoted himself to her. He saw to it that he was there for her as a blessed, proud father should be. Together the three of them shared a wonderful relationship up until the day of his very last breath.
Anthony leaves to cherish his memory; daughter, Calise Lungelow; her mother Lisha Lungelow; step-daughter Angel Lungelow Cooper; brothers; Eddie (Paula deceased), Michael Foster, Danny (Dollie), Charles Jr. (Teri); Matriarch of family, Florence O'Dell Jones; nieces Bernadette Morrow, Tamara Whittle; nephews Dan-iel Whittle, Miles Anthony Whittle, Jordan Ali Whittle, Joshua Alexander Whittle; great-nephews Miles Anthony Whittle Jr., Dominic Ward; great-niece Tynessia Whittle, and an extended family and friends.
Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at the New Mission Missionary Baptist Church, 4809 Ravenna Street, Cincinnati (45227). The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m.
